29/10/06 - Broomfield Bowls Club would like to pass on condolences after hearing the sad news about the death of Tony Pagett. Our thoughts are with the Pagett family.

No indoor matches for Broomfield or Nomads today as it was our presentation evening yesterday. Congratulations to all prize winners.

23/10/06 - As a short term solution indoor information can be viewed here: www.broomfieldbc.com/hadleyindoor.html

15/10/06 - Nomads won against Bearwood Sports by 5 shots but dropped one point with only two of the pairs winning. Ollie Newman & Mick Barnwell beat Tracy & Maureen Wilkins 12-8. Jonathan Blakeman & Chris Price had their second close encounter with an 11-9 win. Denise Killion & Phil High lost out by one shot 11-12. The Broomfield side had two wins but lost their match by one shot with the totals 38-39 against. John Jones & Dave Chilton won 13-9 while Andy Calvert & Terry Jones won 17-10. After two weeks Nomads are in 2nd place with Broomfield 5th.

The Smethwick league tables have been updated and show that our 'B' side ended up in 6th position after being in the top two places for most of last season. Ollie Newman played in the finals of the George Masters yesterday, losing to Anthony Bracken 19-31.

08/10/06 - The 2006/07 Hadley Stadium Sunday Indoor Bowling League started this morning with Broomfield fielding two sides. The Nomads started with a full house (3 wins / 4 points) against Bearwood Sports beating them by 13 shots. Ollie Newman and Mick Barnwell beat Tracy and Maureen Wilkins 14-8, Denise Killion and Phil High won 15-11. Chris Price and Jonathan Blakeman won 11-8 after a poor 0-5 start. The Broomfield side fielded four new players and managed a 14 shot win over the Londonderry. Dave Chilton and John Jones' 23-4 win was the best card this morning. Also wins for Terry Jones and Andy Calvert (17-10). Last seasons runners up the Baggeridge picked up the maximum four points against the Old Cross.

This winter there will be fewer updates but the indoor league can be followed by clicking the link on the bottom left of the page. That will take you to the Hadley Stadium indoor forum where i will post results.

Over the coming months i hope to present a much more detailed history section which has taken up most of my time over the last few weeks. This will include a complete W&W history from our first season in 1978 and also our early history in the late 1890's. It's a one time task and once the information is archived it is something that we will never lose. Important news items will still be posted on this page (presentations, meetings, agm etc).
