25/11/07 - A committee meeting will be held on Monday 3rd December at Smethwick Ex's starting at 7:00pm. There will be no indoor fixture next Sunday.
17/11/07 - After receiving a letter from Joe Russell today, a new feature has been added to the Years Gone By section of the website. The History has also been edited and now includes the period 1835 ~ 1912
12/11/07 - A centenary celebrated 10 years too early? Click here to read extracts from official minutes from the main club committee meetings, which suggest that the green was laid in 1908 and our centenary should in fact be celebrated in 2008. Thank you to David Bryant of the Smethwick Heritage Centre who supplied the information. David was heavily involved in the main club for over 40 years and always insisted that the bowls section was established in 1908.
11/11/07 - Last night Broomfield were well represnted at the Oldbury League presentation with 20 members attending. Seven awards were also collected in the name of Broomfield. Firstly both sets of semi finalists in the Roy Freeman mixed pairs: Jonathan Blakeman & Melissa Gurdas and Tracy & Matt Wilkins. Then it was the Gerald J Wilson pairs, John Wilson and Denise Killion the winners. Mark Hadley Snr and Marc Hadley Jnr the runners up. Denise is the first woman bowler to appear on the G.J.Wilson trophy and it is the first time Broomfield have won this competition in 17 years. The last time being in 1990 which was also the third year in succession: (1988: Roy Freeman & Peter Nichols. 1989: Chris Price & Ian Tew. 1990: Paul Freeman & Mick Jones).
The senior citizens team had done the double by winning Division 1 and the Cup for the first time in their history. Malcolm Spencer collected the Cup, Broomfield ending the Royal Oak's seven year dominance in this competition. Chris Price collected the Seniors Division 1 trophy. Jonathan Blakeman collected a cheque for Oldbury Cup runners up and Ollie Newman collected his cheque for winning the Oldbury division 1 league averages for the second season running.
07/11/07 - A few additions to the website include: Life Members page, final tables 2007 , "Peter Gwilt and two pieces of club history" (click here to view), W&W Alliance averages in complete from season 1988 through to 1993, links page and a photo section for the green and cricket ground .

25/10/07 - The 2007 Season Review was posted to all current members as well as former bowlers along with the October newsletter, final tables and final averages yesterday. To read this seasons review click here. A working party is needed this Saturday down the green, free drinks for those who help out.
14/10/07 - The 2007 season came to an end today, 6 months and 9 days after we started on a cold Thursday evening against D.M.B.E.C. at Broomfield. This season we played a total of 211 matches (9 more than 2006), winning 111 and losing 100. The total stats for 2007 can be viewed by clicking here.
14/10/07 - Smethwick 'A' side lost by 36 shots this morning at Moor Lane. Two winning cards in Ollie Newman and Marc Wilson, both 21-15. The result means West Bromwich Labour have retained the Division 1 title for the 4th year running.
09/10/07 - The final match of the 2007 season will take place this Sunday morning. The Smethwick 'A' side take on Moor Lane away from home needing to win by 9 shots to take the Division 1 title. The indoor season will then start the following week (Sunday 21st October). A committee will be held on Monday 29th October. The Presentation evening takes place on Saturday 3rd November with the Oldbury Presentation the following week at Smethwick Ex's (Saturday 10th November). Donations are needed for our own presentations raffle.
27/09/07 - At the W&W rules revision meeting most proposals were voted against. The one main change for 2008 is the introduction of away practice for a period of 15 minutes.
26/09/07 - The W&W Alliance side survived in Division 2 on plus. Three of four main objectives set in August were achieved with both Saturday teams and the West Bromwich side all surviving relegation. Ollie Newman finished runner up for the W&W Premier Division 2 league averages. One game still remains of the 2007 season, the Smethwick 'A' side need to win away at Moor Lane to win the league.
