31/07/08 - Dudley side had five winners at home against Sedgley Ex's and won by 23 shots: Mark Hadley Snr 21-4, Marc Wilson 21-8, Jonathan Blakeman 21-12, Dan Chilton 21-15 and Tonia Hadley 21-16.

30/07/08 - The Oldbury 'A' recorded their best result of the season with a 9 point away win on the Royal Oak. 25 shots up after four ends with wins from Jonathan Blakeman 21-7, Ollie Newman 21-9 (from 6-9) and Marc Wilson 21-16. Another three winners in the back four taking the difference to 32, Mick Barnwell 21-11, John Wilson 21-14 and Mark Nemedi 21-17.

Also a season best for the Oldbury 'B' who had five winners at home to Weoley Castle and won by 15 shots: Melissa Gurdas 21-10, Cameron Gurdas 21-13, Leigh-Anne Nemedi 21-13, Sam Fagan 21-14 and Mark Wharton 21-16.

The West Bromwich team managed just two winners away at bottom of the league Bilston Town, Andy Calvert 21-12 and Mark Hadley Snr 21-16. Two close cards from Terry Jones (20-14 up) and Denise Killion (18-12 down) who both scored 20.

28/07/08 - Just two winners for the Oldbury Seniors this afternoon, losing by 25 shots away at West Bromwich Labour. Frank Newman won 21-9 and Malcolm Spencer 21-16, John Hardman came back to score 19 against Ron Gales after trailing 17-5.

27/07/08 - Three straight wins for the Smethwick 'A' as they beat the league leaders Moor Lane by 40 shots at Broomfield this morning. Six winners in Marc Hadley Jnr 21-3, Ollie Newman 21-7, Jonathan Blakeman 21-9, Marc Wilson 21-9, John Wilson 21-15 and Mark Hadley Snr 21-19.

The Smethwick 'B' side lost by 22 shots at Hilly House. Two winning cards, Phil High 21-10 and Dan Chilton 21-19.

26/07/08 - 25 people entered the Roy Freeman Club Championship making it the best turnout since 1999. The competition was won by Jonathan Blakeman who beat Terry Jones, Keith Underhill, Keith Lawlor, Darren Griffiths and in the final John Wilson 21-13. John Wilson's route to the final came through wins over Sam Fagan, Mark Hadley Snr, Mark Healey and Dan Chilton. A full report, photos, scores and video clips will be added to the site soon.

A good day was had by all with a few old faces making an appearance: Dave Jones, Steve Blakeman, Nigel Freeman and Amanda Freeman.

25/07/08 - In a re-arranged game from the 6th July, the Smethwick 'A' played the Old Cross 'A' at Broomfield tonight. A 49 shot victory with six winning cards: Jonathan Blakeman 21-7, Nigel Francis 21-10, Marc Wilson 21-11, Ollie Newman 21-11, Mark Hadley Snr 21-11 and John Wilson 21-14.

24/07/08 - The Dudley team beat the league leaders George 'B' by 41 shots at Broomfield. Eight points collected with six winning cards: Marc Wilson 21-5, Nigel Francis 21-10, Jim Watkin 21-12, Jonathan Blakeman 21-14, Denise Killion 21-14 and Keith Lawlor 21-20.

23/07/08 - Oldbury 'A' side had three winners away at Cradley Heath Libs and lost by 15 shots. Winning cards from Mark Hadley Snr 21-11, Ollie Newman 21-15 and Chris Price 21-17. The Oldbury 'B' lost at home by 13 shots to the Royal Oak 'B'. Four winners: Mark Wharton 21-10, Sam Fagan 21-13, Leigh-Anne Nemedi 21-15 and Matt Wilkins 21-18.

The West Bromwich team had just one winner on the Bell, Keith Underhill 21-18. 48 shots the difference.

21/07/08 - Oldbury Seniors lost away at Dudley Dell by 29 shots. Two winners: Sheila Baker 21-6 and John Hardman 21-20.

19/07/08 - W&W Premier side lost away at West Bromwich Labour by 48 shots. A promising start, Marc Wilson recording his fourth straight Saturday win, 21-16. John Wilson (10-0 break) beat Bob Hickman 21-16 and Terry Jones scored 16 at number 1 against Alan Cooke (19-10 down). 10 shots behind after four ends.

No winners in the middle four with the best cards coming from Nigel Francis (18-11 down) and Mark Nemedi (17-13 up) who both scored 19. One winner in the back four, Jonathan Blakeman 21-16. A good game between Ollie Newman (11-2 up) and Rob Carter, Rob finding six 2's in the final ten ends to win 21-16. Richard Parkes the best winner for West Brom Lab, 21-6.

Two home defeats in Premier Division 2 today. Kings Norton won at the Richmond by 23 and Kings Heath Park won on the British Oak by 26. Broomfield now have five home games and three away games remaining. If we can win the home games and New Inns Harborne lose one more home game then we can survive on plus like last season.

19/07/08 - The Alliance team had ten winners at home to The Bell Inn and won by 101 shots. Six single figure cards: John Hardman 21-1, Dave Chilton 21-5, Paul Newman 21-6, Keith Lawlor 21-7, Keith Underhill 21-8 and Darren Griffiths 21-9.

18/07/08 - A semi final place now secure in the Free Press Cup after Broomfield beat the Gate by 22 shots. At home four out of four winners in Ollie Newman 21-5, Darren Griffiths 21-10, Jonathan Blakeman 21-15 and John Wilson 21-19. +35

At the Gate one winning card from Chris Price who beat Greg Smith 21-18. Also good away scores from Mark Hadley Snr 18-21 and Marc Wilson 17-21. Pete Morris was the Gate's best card, 21-12. -13 the difference away from home. Broomfield play Woodfield 'A' or Dudley Dell in the semi final (to be played by Sunday 24th August).

17/07/08 - Defeats both home and away for Broomfield as Penn 'A' won by 36 shots in the Quarter Final of the West Bromwich Handicap Shield. A 2 shot loss at home with two winning cards, Nigel Francis 21-13 and Mark Hadley Snr 21-17. For the visitors at Broomfield, Stuart Jones 21-12 and Gary Cooper 21-16. No winners away at Penn losing by 34 shots. Dan Chilton best card 18-21 and for Penn 'A', Jason Groom 21-7.

The Dudley side lost by 48 shots at the George. Only one shot down after four ends with wins for Jonathan Blakeman 21-7 and Malcolm Spencer 21-8. The George 'B' had two 21-2 winners in Sarah Jones and Kevin Arnott.

16/07/08 - A much needed win for the Oldbury 'A' side who before tonight sat in a relegation spot. Six winners and 84 shots the difference tonight against Cradley Heath Libs. All six winners were single figures: Mick Barnwell 21-3, Darren Griffiths 21-4, Chris Price 21-4, Mark Nemedi 21-6, Ollie Newman 21-8 and Chris Chilton who ran out at 6-9 to win 21-9.

The Oldbury 'B' had three winners away against Royal Oak 'B'. Mark Wharton 21-12, Ted Wilson 21-17 and Cameron Gurdas 21-20.

15/07/08 - Yet another convincing home performance by the West Bromwich team tonight. This time a 69 shot win over the Bell Inn 'A' and the fourth time 9 points have been collected. Dave Chilton first off defeating Phil Brookes 21-9, helped by a 15-1 lead. Second off was Marc Wilson also winning 21-9. Andy Calvert beat Jon Hutchinson 21-12 which was cancelled by the Bell's only winner, Matt Price 21-12. After four ends the home team were 24 shots ahead.

A full house in the back four started by Dan Chilton who led 17-5 and eventually beat the Bell captain Terry Meddings 21-8. Keith Underhill was another who took a big lead (19-2) winning 21-3. John Hardman 21-13 and Malcolm Spencer 21-15 completed the 69 shot victory. The West Bromwich team (won 10 / 15, 95pts) remain in second place for the eighth week running.

14/07/08 - This afternoon the Oldbury Seniors found themselves in danger of a third home defeat. First three ends off all losers as Dudley Dell took a 27 shot lead. Trevor Bate the best for the Dell 21-8. The back three did the business with Frank Newman 21-10, John Hardman 21-12 and Malcolm Spencer last on the green 18-13 needing to win 13. The Pope did not fail, 21-13 the score and Broomfield won by 1 shot.

Another close contest in the Oldbury Cup tonight. This time it was against the George in the semi final at the Gate. Four down after the first four ends. Chris Chilton scored 15 after being 20-9 down to Terry Williams, Ollie Newman led 20-16 but Chris Lambert ran out to win 21-20. Jonathan Blakeman beat Paddy McGuinness 21-19 and Dave Chilton battled back from 14-4 and 20-15 down to beat Barry Brindley 21-20.

George extended the lead to 17 shots when Mick McGuinness beat Darren Griffiths 21-8, Sumo had taken a 6-0 lead. Mick Barnwell went 18-10 up but Paul Greene managed to score 18. Marc Wilson grafted back from 16-20 to win 20 against Eric Winstone. Mark Nemedi last on the green with the game gone beat Gary Penekit 21-18 although Gary was another who made a comeback, Nemo was 18-8. Broomfield had five winners and lost by 10 shots.

The Oldbury 'B' made it to the final of the Division 3 & 4 Knockout Cup for the second time in three years with a 10 shot victory against the Royal Oak 'B'. The game was played at M&B Portland Road, four winners each and we play Smethwick Ex's in the final. Winning cards tonight came from Denise Killion 21-12, Terry Jones 21-14, Jim Watkin 21-18 and Dan Chilton 21-20. Also good cards from Sam Fagan and Melissa Gurdas who both scored 20

13/07/08 - The Smethwick 'A' finally found an away win this morning, winning by 9 shots against the Old Cross 'A'. Four winners: Jonathan Blakeman 21-5, Marc Wilson 21-12, Mark Nemedi 21-19 and Dave Chilton 21-19. Close cards also coming from Marc Hadley Jnr 17-21, Chris Chilton 18-21 and Mark Hadley Snr who scored 19 after being 18-8 down.

The Smethwick 'B' side beat Great Barr by 40 shots at Broomfield with five winners: Keith Lawlor 21-3, Chris Price 21-4, Frank Newman 21-7, Dan Chilton 21-13 and Andy Calvert 21-14.

12/07/08 - A 100 shot home win for the W&W Premier team today against New Inns Harborne. A 40 shot lead opened up in the first four with wins from Mark Nemedi 21-3, Marc Wilson 21-4 and Terry Jones 21-12. The difference extended to 63 after eight ends with winning cards from Nigel Francis 21-7, Marc Hadley Jnr 21-8 and Chris Price 21-16. A full house in the back four, Ollie Newman 21-7, Jonathan Blakeman 21-10, Andy Calvert 21-12 and Chris Chilton 21-18. 10 winners in total.

The Alliance team took a 30 shot lead after 4 ends at the Beaufort with wins from Keith Lawlor 21-6, Dan Chilton 21-8 and Karemjit Gurdas 21-18. After 8 ends the game was still in Broomfields control, 34 shots up with another two winning cards: Keith Underhill 21-9 and Sam Fagan 21-17. No winners in the back four dropping 36 shots and losing the game by 2.

11/07/08 - The W&W Alliance team lost by 25 shots tonight in the quarter final of the Alliance Cup. The game was played against the Drakes Drum at Ward End Social. Two winners for Broomfield in Ollie Newman 21-10 and Phil High 21-12.

10/07/08 - A 17 shot win for the Dudley side as bottom placed Broomfield took on the league leaders Beech Tree Miner. Six points collected with four winners: Tonia Hadley 21-8, Denise Killion 21-9, Malcolm Spencer 21-10 and Jonathan Blakeman 21-13.

09/07/08 - The Oldbury 'A' match against the Old Cross at Broomfield was rained off. The Oldbury 'B' lost by 103 shots with no winners away at top of the table Baggeridge. A mention deserved for Cameron Gurdas (19-21) and Leigh-Anne Nemedi (13-21) who both bowled well.

08/07/08 - Eight points for the West Bromwich side tonight against the league leaders Penn 'A'. A 44 shot victory with six winners - Keith Underhill 21-6, Marc Wilson 21-7, Dave Chilton 21-9, Terry Jones 21-11, Dan Chilton 21-15 and John Hardman 21-18.

07/07/08 - Another home loss for the Oldbury Seniors as the Royal Oak 'A' won on Broomfield this afternoon by 7 shots. Just two winners for the home side, Sheila Baker 21-9 and Malcolm Spencer 21-12.

07/07/08 - Oldbury G.T.Wilson Pairs tonight with five Broomfield entries. 6:30pm start and four pairs to qualify from each green. Terry Jones & Marc Wilson and Denise Killion & Andy Calvert are at Langley. Dan Chilton & Jonathan Blakeman, Mark Hadley Snr & Tonia Hadley and Danielle Newman & Melissa Gurdas are at M&B Portland Road.

06/07/08 - An away win for the Smethwick 'B' team this morning, cancelling the recent home defeat to The Gate. Seven shots the difference as Broomfield 'B' won on Great Barr with four winners: Frank Newman 21-5, Phil High 21-11, Keith Lawlor 21-13 and Dan Chilton 21-19.

The Smethwick 'A' game at Broomfield against the Old Cross was rained off as most parts of the green were flooded at 10am.

05/07/08 - The W&W Premier team lost away at Kings Norton by 61 shots. Three winners in Mark Nemedi 21-12, Marc Wilson 21-18 and last on the green making his return Ollie Newman. Ollie beat Jack Badham 21-20 who had only lost one game this season.

A 125 shot victory for the Alliance side who had eleven winners at home to second place Greville Arms. Three winners in the first four: Karemjit Gurdas 21-11, Phil High 21-13 and Tracy Wilkins 21-18. A full house in the middle four with single figure wins for Keith Underhill 21-1 (19-0 break) and Keith Lawlor 21-6. Another three single figure cards in the back four, Paul Newman 21-3 (18-0 break), Frank Newman 21-4 and Dave Chilton 21-8.

03/07/08 - On what was one of the poorest surfaces Broomfield have played on this season, the Dudley team had just one winner at Beech Tree Miner. The 53 shot loss keeps us at the bottom of the table and took Beech Tree to 1st place with two games in hand. One point was gained for us with Marc Wilson winning 21-7.

02/07/08 - Oldbury 'A' lost by 5 shots on the Old Cross with three winners - Mick Barnwell 21-10, Mark Nemedi 21-12 and Chris Chilton 21-14. Also close cards from Darren Griffiths 20-21, Chris Price 19-21 and John Wilson 17-21.

A whitewash away from home for the West Bromwich side as 1st played 2nd. 61 shots the difference at Penn with the best cards coming from John Hardman 20-21, Terry Jones 16-21 and Keith Underhill 16-21. The defeat sees Penn 'A' (114pts) take a 36 point lead at the top of the table, Broomfield (78pts) are still second place.

The Oldbury 'B' also faced top of the league opposition tonight, losing at home by 71 shots to the Baggeridge. Two winners for Broomfield 'B' in Matt Wilkins 21-18 and Sam Fagan 21-20. Ted scored 12.
