18/06/2009 - A second win this season for the Dudley team tonight who beat Hilly House by 32 shots on Broomfield. Six winners with single figure cards from Nigel Francis 21-7 and Keith Lawlor 21-8. John Hardman ran out from 10 across to win 21-10.
17/06/2009 - Oldbury side lost by 24 shots away at WBFS. Some close games with some good comebacks. Two winning cards for Broomfield in Mick Barnwell 21-12 and captain Darren Griffiths 21-18.
14/06/2009 - Eight winners at home for the Smethwick 'A', beating Gate Colley Gate by 85 shots. Single figure wins from Jonathan Blakeman 21-7, Marc Wilson 21-8 and Ollie Newman 21-8. No scores received from the Smethwick 'B' fixture.
13/06/2009 - Three +100 wins for the W&W Premier side this season beating Woodbourne by 122 shots today. Just one shot dropped with eleven winning cards and one 21-20 loser. Five single figure winners in Marc Wilson 21-3, Dan Chilton 21-5 and John Wilson, Darren Griffiths and Jonathan Blakeman - all 21-6. Also a mention to Mark Hadley Snr who played the undefeated Simon Dreher (8/8) and then trailed him 7-13 and 13-18 but battled to the end and won 21-19.
The Alliance side won by 92 shots on Ward End Social. Nine winners with best cards from Andy Calvert 21-1, Keith Underhill 21-6, Nigel Francis 21-6, Paul Newman 21-6 and John Jones 21-7.
12/06/2009 - A close encounter against Great Barr tonight in a 4 home 4 away match in the Free Press Cup. At Broomfield a positive start with Chris Chilton beating Jak Locker 21-10. Simon Clinton reduced our plus to 3 by beating Darren Griffiths 21-13. The back two both started badly, Mick Barnwell (8-17) and Jonathan Blakeman (11-17) but then recovered to beat Eric Hall 21-17 and Ben Harris 21-18 respectively. +10 the difference at home.
At Great Barr a bad start with Mark Hadley Snr scoring four against Paul Patrick. Terry Jones also had a bad start against Steve Maguire, trailing 0-10 and 3-15 but recovered to score 18. Mark Nemedi continued his good away form in the first team to defeat Paul Clinton 21-14. Marc Wilson fell 5-13 to Craig Dugdale and also came back to score 18. Final difference away -16, losing the game by 6 shots overall.
11/06/2009 - Just one point for the Dudley team who travelled to the Beeches tonight. The one winning card came from John Hardman who beat Ian Head 21-13. It was John's first game this season - well done and welcome back! The next best card came from Keith Lawlor who scored 17. Tough going for the Dudley team who have only won one of their ten matches this season and face a big challenge to survive in Division 2.
10/06/2009 - Home form continued for the Oldbury side tonight. After home wins of 64, 65, 72 and 74 shots, the team went one better winning by 80 shots. Another rain affected match but the green did take the water well. For the third night running it was a case of 7 / 8 winners. Four single figure cards tonight: Mark Hadley Snr 21-2, Jonathan Blakeman 21-3, Darren Griffiths 21-8 and Mick Barnwell 21-8.
09/06/2009 - The West Bromwich team won by 114 shots at home to the Bell Inn. Nine points gained with seven single figure wins. Best cards from Dave Chilton 21-0 and Malcolm Spencer 21-2.
08/06/2009 - Seven winners tonight for Broomfield as the Oldbury side beat the Old Chapel by 75 shots in the knockout cup. The game was played at M&B Portland Road with best cards from Marc Wilson 21-4, Darren Griffiths 21-5 and Mick Barnwell 21-5. Other teams through to the semi finals: George, M&B Portland Road and Dartmouth.
07/06/2009 - A complete washout this weekend with no games on Broomfield. After a week of high temperatures and prolonged sunny spells the rain then came on Friday, continuing on Saturday and Sunday. The pictures below show the state of the green on Saturday at 4:00pm. Even the ditches were under 4" of water.
06/06/2009 - Broomfield will play Great Barr in the Free Press Cup next Friday (12th June). The format is four home four away with a 7:00pm start. The winners play Coombswood or the George 'A'. 2009 is the last time Tim Wilson and Barry Jones will run this competition.
