30/05/14 - Broomfield Bowling Club moved to Portland Road four years ago today.

28/05/14 - Paul Hentrich has joined the club through Chris Price as a new / novice bowler. Paul has already paid his subs and taken on a bonus ball number. We welcome Paul to Broomfield B.C.

26/05/14 - In the Oldbury Cup quarter finals Broomfield will face the George 'B' at Hamstead Social on Tuesday 17th June. Other quarter final matches include the Royal Oak vs George 'A' at Black Horse, Wernley 'A' vs Mitchells & Butlers 'A' at Old Cross and Old Cross 'A' vs Bell Inn 'A' at Thimblemill Rec.

25/05/14 - S.F.Jones Cup exits for both the 'A' and 'B' teams this morning. The 'A' team, seven time winners of the cup were at The Towers in Great Barr to face Boldmere Sports & Social 'A'. Nine shots behind after the first four with wins for Joe Wilson 21-15 and Jonathan Blakeman 21-17. Boldmere took full control in the back four with four winners putting the game out of reach by a further 21 shots. Final scores 128-158.

It is now over a decade since the 'B' team won a match in the S.F.Jones Cup and unfortunately this wasn't to change at Lea Hall this morning losing out by 25 shots against W.B.F.S.C. Three winners for Broomfield 'B' in Andy Calvert 21-13, Tonia Hadley 21-14 and Jim Watkin 21-17. Final scores 124-149.

25/05/14 - The Frank & Sheila Newman Club Pairs which were due to take place today at 2:00pm have been cancelled. The competition will now take place at a later date.

24/05/14 - No game for the W&W Premier team this afternoon who were due to face the Valley at Wheelers Lane. The match was rained off at 1:30pm. At Portland Road games went ahead, one of which was Broomfield facing the George third team in Alliance Division 2. This was the first time Broomfield have faced the George in a W&W league fixture since 2006.

The George took a 9 shot lead after four ends. Winners were shared, Andy Calvert 21-7 and Denise Killion 21-16 for the home team. Bill Chiswell 21-2 for the George. Broomfield had three winners in the middle four, Mick Haydon 21-15, Frank Newman 21-20 and Keith Underhill 21-20 but still dropped a further four shots adrift - the difference now -13 going in to the back four. The George trebled their lead in the back four with single figure wins for Joe Arnott 21-4 and Terry Williams 21-9. John Hardman was the only winner for the home team 21-16. With the game over Malcolm Spencer and Will Freeman were left on the green and played out a good game with some tight ends towards the finish. Will Freeman just edging this one 21-19. Final scores 181-220.

23/05/14 - Due to lack of players we have had to concede our first round W&W Arthur Mitchell 'Bomber' Cup match against Moseley Cricket Club 'A' tonight. An unfortunate decision not taken lightly having never conceded a game in this competition. Apologies to Moseley Cricket Club who we have wished all the best in Round 2.

21/05/14 - The next committee meeting has been re-arranged to take place on Tuesday 3rd June at Smethwick Conservative Club (7:30pm start). Can all captains please ensure that match subs, card money etc has been handed to a member of the committee before this date.

20/05/14 - The order for club jackets has now been placed with the embroidery confirmed today. The emblem will be identical to the club shirts with Broomfield B.C. arced over the top and Est.1898 in a straight line below the emblem. The jackets are expected to arrive in two weeks time.

17/05/14 - Six winners at home for the W&W Premier team today but it was not enough to beat The Maggies on a hot afternoon at Portland Road. Results elsewhere moved Broomfield out of the bottom three to 9th place. Wins today for Joe Wilson 21-9, John Wilson 21-14, Terry Jones 21-17, Malcolm Spencer 21-17 who ran out from 13-17, Jonathan Blakeman 21-19 and Ollie Newman 21-20.

The W&W Alliance Division 2 fixture against the Royal Oak (away) was cancelled due to lack of players and will now be played on Saturday 7th June - 3:00pm start.

16/05/14 - Both Warwick & Worcester teams won their first round cup matches tonight, something we have not acheived since 2006. In the W&W Premier Cup Broomfield faced Kings Norton at the George. Six winners and a 37 shot victory with wins for Jonathan Blakeman 21-1, Terry Jones 21-10, Ollie Newman 21-11, Andy Calvert 21-18, Joe Wilson 21-18 and Dan Chilton 21-20. Round 2 will see Broomfield play the winners of Kings Heath Park and WCWMC (New Inn).

In the Alliance Cup Broomfield played Triplex at King George V and won the match with just two winners. Manjeet Panesar winning 21-4 and Jim Watkin 21-14. Final score 147-144 with the losing cards being 14, 16, 18, 18, 19 and 20. The Alliance team will play Tanworth In Arden in Round 2.

14/05/14 - In the Oldbury League tonight Broomfield had five winners at Langley but lost the match by 17 shots. Wins for Joe Wilson 21-16, Chris Price 21-17, Darren Griffiths 21-18, Jonathan Blakeman 21-18 and John Wilson 21-19. Broomfield remain in second place behind Royal Oak 'A'.

12/05/14 - Five winners for Broomfield in the Summit League tonight as they faced Woodfield 'B' at home. Only a plus of 16 with winning cards for Chris Price 21-7, Dan Chilton 21-12 (MVP), John Hardman 21-12, Jonathan Blakeman 21-14 and Joe Wilson 21-20. The result keeps Broomfield in 7th place in Division 2. Claire Pugh was MVP for Woodfield winning 21-12.

11/05/14 - A narrow 5 shot loss for the Smethwick 'A' side this morning away at W.B.F.S.C. Three winners for Broomfield 'A', the pick of which was Ollie Newman 21-3. The Smethwick 'B' side drew at home to Division 2 leaders Lea Hall 'A'. Just three winners for Broomfield in Terry Jones 21-11, Frank Newman 21-12 and Chris Price 21-16. Scores tied at 144 shots each.

10/05/14 - Four winners away at The Maggies this afternoon for the W&W Premier side who slipped into the relegation zone with a 38 shot defeat. Wins for Dan Chilton 21-13, Ollie Newman 21-16, Chris Price 21-18 and Joe Wilson 21-19. The W&W Alliance team suffered a 58 shot thrashing at home to the Royal Oak which leaves us at the bottom of Division 2. Five winners for Broomfield in Frank Newman 21-11, John Hardman 21-13, Kevin March 21-13, Jim Watkin 21-16 and Malcolm Spencer 21-19.

09/05/14 - A heavy defeat in the the first round of the resurrected Super Cup tonight for Broomfield facing Birches Head Hotel (Potteries). At Portland Road we had three winners in John Wilson 31-16, Ollie Newman 31-23 and Dave Chilton 31-30. 17 shots the difference at home. No winners at Birches Head Hotel losing by 77 shots. Total scores 164-224 (-60).

08/05/14 - We are now taking orders for club jackets using the same emblem that appears on the new club shirts. The jackets are dark blue with black trim and will cost £30.00 each. John Wilson has an XL sample provided by Stewart Meddings of Bowls4u. As the minimum order is only 6 jackets we will be placing the first order on 14th May - therefore please place your order with John Wilson or Jonathan Blakeman ASAP. Available sizes are as follows: S (37"), M (40"), L (43"), XL (46"), 2XL (49"), 3XL (50")

07/05/14 - Seven winners for the Oldbury team tonight against Netherton Cons 'A'. A result that took Broomfield to second place in Division 1. In the first four at Portland Road there were wins for Jonathan Blakeman 21-3, John Wilson 21-7, Joe Wilson 21-11 and Chris Price 21-18. In the back four the aggregate was increased to 77 with wins for Ollie Newman 21-2, Dave Chilton 21-13 and Mick Barnwell 21-15.

06/05/14 - The Smethwick 'B' fixture against Cradley Heath Libs which was cancelled (27th April) will now take place on Tuesday 20th May. This is a home fixture and will start at 7:00pm.

Broomfield will face Moseley Cricket Club 'A' in the first round of the W&W Arthur Mitchell 'Bomber' Cup on Friday 23rd May. This is 6-home 6-away starting at 7:00pm.

04/05/14 - The Smethwick 'A' side remain in 4th place in Division 1 after a 28 shot home win against W.B.F.S.C. this morning. Wins for Jonathan Blakeman 21-10, Ollie Newman 21-12, Dan Chilton 21-16, Joe Wilson 21-17, Mick Barnwell 21-18 and Keith Lawlor 21-20. The Smethwick 'B' team slipped to 4th place in Division 2 as Lea Hall 'A' made it five out of five for the season. Two winners for Broomfield 'B' in a 45 shot away defeat: Terry Jones 21-8 and Mark Hadley Snr 21-18.

03/05/14 - Seven winners for the W&W Premier side at home this afternoon against Drakes Drum. A tight 16 shot victory with wins for Jonathan Blakeman 21-10, Darren Griffiths 21-10, Mick Barnwell 21-11, Terry Jones 21-13, Ollie Newman 21-14, Dave Chilton 21-16 and John Wilson 21-18.

The W&W Alliance team suffered a heavy 73 shot defeat at the Baldwin. Three winners for Broomfield in Keith Underhill 21-13, John Hardman 21-16 and Jim Watkin 21-17.

01/05/14 - The Dudley team remain undefeated this season after beating Somers 'B' at home by 39 shots tonight. Six winners for Broomfield: John Hardman 21-4, Denise Killion 21-10, Mark Hadley Snr 21-11, Keith Underhill 21-13, Tonia Hadley 21-13 and Malcolm Spencer 21-18.
