25/05/2009 - All averages now updated and online, team selection also available. Congratulations to Keith Lawlor and Darren Griffiths who beat Marc Hadley Jnr and Richard Sherwood 21-5 in the final of the William Purcell Club Pairs yesterday.
Thanks to Paul Hickman the web address www.broomfieldbc.com is now back in working order. We have also been allocated extra hosting space.
14/05/2009 - WEBSITE UPDATE. I have had an email today from our webmaster Paul Hickman. He has explained why we now have a few problems with the Broomfield website. The site which is now into its 4th year is taking up £50 of hosting space on the crowngreen.com network. This is preventing the Warwick & Worcester and Dudley League from updating their websites and the short term solution has been to remove our images folder to free up some space. Team selection on this site appears as an image and that is why some of you were having problems viewing selection. I have now moved this to a different folder as a short term solution.
Paul has given me various options which i am currently trying to work out which is best. The Broomfield site has not cost our club a penny since its creation although i have made various donations to Paul for the domain name broomfieldbc.com and because of him hosting our site on the crowngreen.com network. Whatever the outcome i intend to keep the website free to the club as it is something i do in my spare time and not everyone needs the website.
Until we find a way forward the domain name will also have to stay on hold so please access this site via the crowngreen.com network :- www.crowngreen.com/broomfieldbc
04/05/2009 - On Saturday the W&W Premier side beat a record that has stood since 1981. The best home win by a Broomfield W&W Premier side had been by 155 shots against the Black Horse in Division 9. Broomfield won by 156 shots against Hockley Heath with twelve winning cards. Nine single figure winners in all: Dan Chilton 21-3, Dave Chilton 21-3, Marc Wilson 21-4, Jonathan Blakeman 21-5, Mick Barnwell 21-6, John Wilson 21-7, Chris Chilton 21-7, Terry Jones 21-9 and Darren Griffiths 21-9. A mention must go to Dan Chilton on his first team debut, flying into a 17-0 lead and was without doubt the the best player on the day.
The W&W Alliance team just ducked out away at Ward End Cons by 12 shots. Five winning cards, best of which were Joe Wilson 21-4, Keith Lawlor 21-8 and Keith Underhill 21-17. Also good to see Paul Newman back in action, winning 21-18 in his first game this season.
A 100% record still in tact for the Smethwick 'A' team with four league wins in addition to the cup victory. A 35 shot home win yesterday morning against The Gate / Londonderry. Five winners with four single figure cards: Marc Wilson 21-7, Keith Lawlor 21-9, Mark Hadley Snr 21-9 and Ollie Newman 21-9.
At Woodman Saltwells the Smethwick 'B' side lost for the first time this season. 28 shots the difference with three winners for Broomfield in Dan Chilton 21-18, Matt Barnwell 21-18 and John Jones 21-20.
