30/03/17 - A final reminder that tomorrow signals the end of the three month period in which we ask members to pay the yearly subscription. The online payment system has proved a success and only 12 or so members still owe - please make every effort to pay before the start of the season this coming Saturday.

30/03/17 - The Rag Inn have resigned from Division 2 of the Summit Garage Premier League. Monday 26th June and Monday 3rd July will now be treated as a bye.

27/03/17 - The Dudley Herald Cup draw has been made for Round 1 which takes place on Friday 7th April. Of the 27 entries Broomfield are 1 of 5 byes that will enter the competition in Round 2 on Friday 28th April.

22/03/17 - A message from Mick Haydon for players to contact him if they wish to participate in the friendly at Cradley Sports on Tuesday 4th April. A decision will be made on Saturday if the game is to go ahead. Cradley Sports have offered to put food on but at present there has been little interest in the fixture.

Oldbury 'B' Fixture Change – Wednesday 24th and 31st May will now be treated as a bye for our Oldbury ‘B’ team after Weoley Castle ‘B’ resigned from the league at late notice.

GMB Sponsorship – Thank you to Sam Fagan who has secured £300 of sponsorship from GMB trade union. The GMB S85 Sandwell Community Branch will have an advertising banner around the green this season.

Fundraising & Social Coordinator – Danielle Newman, one of three new faces on the committee has taken on this role. Please look out for the events, some of the funds raised will go towards erecting shelters around the green, an idea raised at the AGM in January. A date already in the diary is a social event to follow the £100-sponsored Janice Freeman Club Handicap held on the Sunday of August Bank Holiday weekend.

2016 Accounts – These will be circulated by email to all members having been presented by Dave Jenkins at the recent committee meeting.

Subs Reminder – Yearly subscriptions should be paid by 31st March.

Finally, thanks to the 10 or so members who have helped with the pre-season work over the past couple of months. In addition we have had work undertaken on the trees surrounding the green and the pavilion roof was replaced with the cost covered by Warwickshire CCC’s insurance. Paul Rolls of M&B has replaced the pavilion kitchen whilst general ground improvements have been made to the car park and inside the main pavilion. The two clubs are now exploring ideas for the refurbishment of the outside of the pavilion.

09/03/17 - The Smethwick S.F.Jones Cup draw has been made. Both Broomfield 'A' and 'B' teams do not feature in the preliminary round on Sunday 2nd April. The Broomfield green is however in use with Wernley 'A' facing Beeches 'B' in the prelim of the Consolation Cup. Round 1 of the S.F.Jones Cup takes place on Sunday 7th May:

  • Broomfield 'A' vs Lea Hall 'A' @ Greets Green
  • Broomfield 'B' vs Mitchells & Butlers @ Beeches

The 'A' team would play the winner of Boldmere Sports 'A' vs Pheasant and the 'B' team the winner of Cradley Sports and Rowley Labour.

01/03/17 - There has been a couple of changes to the W&W Alliance Division 3 fixtures that were released yesterday. The addition of Weoley Castle W.M.C. means both our Premier and Alliance teams will play 22 league matches. The Premier fixtures appear to be the same as the initial release yesterday.
