Items listed below are news items that have appeared on the Home Page but may now be out of date...

26/02/2009 - All fixtures are now available through the various league websites. So far the following have been put on broomfieldbc.com : W&W Premier, W&W Alliance, Oldbury and West Bromwich.

25/02/2009 - Bonus Ball numbers updated, click here

22/02/2009 - Two Broomfield bowlers will feature in the Tipton & Coseley BS Competition at West Bromwich Football Supporters Club. Mark Hadley Snr takes on Phil Cole (Boldmere St Michaels) in the morning session on Sunday 22nd March. Darren Griffiths will play Mark Rose (George) in the afternoon session on Saturday 28th March. Former Broomfield bowler Nigel Freeman (Coseley Athletic) plays Bob Hickman (West Brom Lab) in the morning session, Saturday 28th March.

21/02/2009 - With the arrival of some much needed dry weather, work on the green started today. Another poor winter has seen the green holding water for most of the off season. The initial signs were good today. The green was brushed two ways to toughen the surface, it also had its first cut and was heavily spiked. Heavy moss is present but the treatment of this problem will start next week. Although the surface is still very soft, we hope the next four weeks of work plus some good luck with the weather will see the green in a playable condition for the end of March.

21/02/2009 - The Oldbury 'B' team has been withdrawn from the league with only two players confirming their full availability for the 2009 season. A sad decision so soon after the cup success in 2008. Broomfield will only field seven teams in 2009 after the Oldbury Seniors team was also withdrawn. In 2007 this team achieved the double, winning the Cup and Division 1.

Kirk Stevens and Kevin Hickman have both confirmed that they will not be joining Broomfield in 2009. At time of writing the only confirmed new member for the coming season is Richard Sherwood (M&B). Registered players could drop from 50 last season to 30 in 2009. Karemjit Gurdas, John Capewell, Lynne Lawlor and Diane Kazmierowski have all stated that they will not be bowling this season. Several players were registered to the Oldbury Seniors only in 2008 and will not feature in 2009. These include Sheila Baker, Frank Harrison, Pauline Broadhead, John Simcox, Len Marks, Len Perry and Jean Willetts. Danielle Newman, Melissa Gurdas and Leigh-Anne Nemedi all look unlikely to play in 2009 and it is unclear whether Sam Fagan, Mark Wharton or Mark Healey will register for the coming season. Nigel Freeman, Matt Barnwell and Emily Lawlor also formed part of the registered players in 2008 but were not active.

A frightening statistic to think that we could lose 20 members in one go. Raising funds will of course become more diffucult, especially in the current climate. Can all players please confirm their availability to the Secretary, Mark Hadley Snr as soon as possible.

Keith Lawlor, Chris Price and one other member will form a sub-committee to organise the next presentation which will be held in February 2010.

The green will open middle-end of March, weather depending.
