31/01/17 - Chris Steps Down After 10 Years with W&W - A number of changes were confirmed at the Warwick & Worcester AGM yesterday evening. For Broomfield bowlers that included the resignation of Chris Price who has served on the general committee since 2007 including the 2015-2016 seasons as Association Secretary. Darren Simpkin replaced Chris in the role for what will be a limited one year tenure, Darren himself having served as Secretary between 2006 and 2012.
Phil Whitehead (W&W President) replaced John Reid as Merits & Cups Officer, another to resign after four years in the role. The Association were unable to fill the position of Coaches Officer for the second successive year and only appointed three of a possible four general commitee members. This did however include the appointment of Stewart Meddings (Royal Oak B.C.). The clubs present were also warned that 2017 would be the final year in office for Dave Perry (Chairman), Darren Simpkin (Treasurer, Secretary, Registrar) in additon to Auditors Graham Ord and Gerry Harper.
Phil Whitehead confirmed it was his intention to hold the W&W Ladies Debbie Williams Individual Merit finals at Broomfield and M&B for the fourth time in six seasons (2012, 2015, 2016).
31/01/17 - The 2017 Summit Garage Premier League fixtures are the first to be released. Broomfield are back in Division 2 and open with a home fixture against Selly Park on Monday 10th April.
31/01/17 - Those wishing to attend the Smethwick & District Sunday Morning Bowling League presentation should contact league secretary Mark Hadley (Broomfield B.C.). The presentation takes place at Hamstead Social Club on Saturday 4th March.
28/01/17 - The Warwick & Worcester league programme will commence on Saturday 1st April. Some Alliance fixtures may take place on Saturday 15th April (Easter) but there will be no Premier games. Other non league Saturday dates include 10th June (Individual Merit Prelims) and 29th July (All England). Premier matches will conclude on Saturday 16th September with some Alliance divisions ending the season on 23rd September. Other dates to note include:

23/01/17 - Thanks go to the 34 members who turned up to the AGM yesterday making it the best attendance since 1997. Please refer to the Officers page for details of the various officers, captains and committee. Changes on committee include new faces in Andy Calvert, Danielle Newman and Sam Fagan who replace Mark Hadley, Joe Wilson and Paul Jackson. With the change of Club Captain a trend has continued that since 1988 only Peter Nichols (1990-1992) has held the role for more than two consecutive seasons.
A rule proposal concerning team selection was approved gaining a majority vote through a show of hands. The club constitution will be updated in due course.
Members are reminded that the £30.00 (full) or £15.00 (associate) membership fee should be paid no later than Friday 31st March 2017. Dave Jenkins (Treasurer) will be providing details on how to pay fees by bank transfer, direct debit or a standing order.
Work parties have been arranged for Saturday 4th February, Saturday 11th February and Saturday 4th March to take place between 10:00am and 1:00pm. All members are encouraged to attend at least one of these work parties to complete the pre season work. On Saturday 4th March the plan is to install new striker boards and astro turf around the green. For those that prefer indoor work please lend a hand with the refurbishment of the bowls pavilion - mainly painting and cleaning. Paul Rolls (M&B) is currently working towards installing a new kitchen.

The first meeting for the new committee will take place on Tuesday 7th February at Edgbaston Foundation Sports Ground starting at 7:00pm. A one topic agenda is planned to discuss final arrangements for the presentation which takes place on Saturday 18th February. Organiser Paul Hentrich will be looking for volunteers to help out both before and during the presentation evening.
2017 fixtures are not yet available although forthcoming AGM's include Smethwick & District SMBL (23rd Jan), Oldbury & District (7th Feb) and Dudley & District (9th Feb). The Oldbury season will start on Wednesday 12th April and end on Wednesday 6th September.
Milestones for the 2017 season include 40 seasons in the Warwick & Worcester, Ollie Newman (30 seasons) and Tonia Hadley will become the first female bowler to complete 30 seasons for Broomfield. John Hardman will enter his 20th season for Broomfield and Joe Wilson a 10th. Three players will likely pass 200 games at Portland Road: Denise Killion (178), John Wilson (182) and Daniel Chilton (199). New members at time of writing include Chris Chilton, Lisa Griffiths and Claire Hentrich.

01/01/17 - Reminder: Presentation - Saturday 18th February 2017 at the Edgbaston Palace Hotel, Hagley Road, Birmingham. Tickets are £30.00 and are limited so will be sold on a first come first served basis. Tickets need to be purchased by Sunday 15th January 2017. Payment can be made by bank transfer directly to the club or by cash / cheque to Paul Hentrich. (Bank details will not be published on this website - please ask any club member who will have received the details by email).
Entertainment will be the Soul Matters band (as per 2016) followed by a DJ. There will be a £200 cash prize raffle. Draft ale will be available, possibly Doombar. Tables are limited to approx. 10 per table.
